NOLA Constructive serves as a forum for honest and anonymous art criticism of art shown in the greater New Orleans area. Functioning as a virtual critique, the discussions and ideas posted to the forum offer constructive and catalyzing feedback for artists working and exhibiting here. Please contribute anonymous assessments of works you have seen lately to http://nolaconstructive.blogspot.com

Project Scope: Vision, Aim, & Objectives

Why this project is being done:
An honest critical assessment may go a long way in providing some necessary outside (and work changing) insight for the contemporary artists in New Orleans who do not regularly receive critical feedback about their work.
Who or what this project would impact:
Art viewers take ownership of their experience through writing, while artists receive critical feedback about their work. This should challenge both the viewer and the artist and ultimately create better work and art community in New Orleans.
Project intends to address:
This blog responds to the lack of critical public response to New Orleans art. What little art criticism can be found is largely congratulatory, perfunctory, poorly written, out of touch, incomplete, or unhelpful. And, there's not enough of it.
Included or excluded:
The virtual critique blog accepts honest critical assessments of any artwork viewed recently in the greater New Orleans area by anonymous posters/viewers of any age. We do reserve the right to edit or remove any malicious content prior to posting.

If you haven't already seen

If you haven't already seen it, please check out DEEP. DOWN. DIRTY. at Antenna Gallery, 3161 Burgundy St (New Orleans, LA), through November 8th 2009. Though the show is not quite 100% comprised of winners, it is yet a 100% winning show thanks tibco training to the skillful curatorial skills of new Antenna member Robin Atkinson. You will leave with the impression that Antenna has "kicked it up a notch," Emeril style, for the rest mcse exam questions and answers of the bourgeoning St. Claude Arts District. Especially titillating are the juicy color explosions of Helen Maurene Cooper's large rhct format inkjet prints of close up scenes of ornately stylized fingernails juxtaposed in and with various goops and baubles. If you missed this month's second-Saturday round rcdd exam of simultaneous St. Claude area openings, it's not too late. Most of these galleries are open on weekend afternoons. This month, there are good offerings a-plenty at most of these galleries, with highlights also at Barrister's Gallery.

Re: Virtual Critique for Contemporary Art in New Orleans

In the transcript of the school speech released Monday, Obama cited the importance of education as an equalizer, the power of social networking tools like Facebook and Twitter, and the importance of working hard and taking personal responsibility. Many conservatives have expressed a fear that the address would be used to push a partisan political agenda. In the text of the speech, however, Obama avoids any mention of controversial political initiatives. He repeatedly urges students to work hard and stay in school. The White House hoped to quiet the latest conservative uproar over the President's speech to American schoolchildren by releasing the speech to the public Monday. But the uproar continues, as some parents remain skeptical of Obama's agenda even after reading a speech that is little more than an educational pep talk. It may take several decades for future generations of Americans to pay off America's debts, if it is even possible of no fax loans.
