Details

The Sankofa Marketplace was created by a coalition of artists, community groups, churches,and small business based in the Lower 9th Ward to stimulate eonomic development and community revitalization. This market features a farmers market, health resources, live New Orleans music, access to community resources, a crafts market, and an exhibition of L9 history and culture on every second Saturday.

Project Timeline

This project is ongoing on every second Saturday from 10AM to 3PM. The upcoming dates are every second Saturday as follows: Oct 11, Nov 8, Dec 13, Jan 10, Feb 14.

Materials needed (wish list):
We need sponsorship, an administrative assistant, and volunteer coordinator. A stage is needed for entertainment, copy paper, marketplace materials. Please email at info@sankofamarketplace.org for more information.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with marketplace set up and assist in various booth areas.
