Details
Open Air Project is working to renovate a group of empty business signs hanging in front of closed businesses and make them available for artists to create site-specific installations. With cooperation from the property owners, I will be making any necessary repairs to the structures, and working with other artists to create a show of outdoor installations.
Project Scope: Vision, Aim, & Objectives
Why this project is being done:
I'm hoping that activating these unused public spaces will bring a new sense of life and excitement to the street. It can also encourage interactions on the street and inspire other people to think of beautifying abandoned spaces.
Who or what this project would impact:
This project will impact everyone on the street who sees it.
Project intends to address:
The visual landscape of New Orleans is largely one of abandonment and neglect. This project hopes to infuse some life, light and color into dark empty streets.
Project Timeline
The installations must be installed by November 1, for the opening of Prospect 1. There might be a second round of installations after this initial group.
Project Plan & Participants
