Details
God's Vineyard is a Parkway Partners sponsored community garden in the Lower Garden District. Technically an urban farm, half of it is for vegetables, primarily hot peppers that are harvested and then bottled in the St. Thomas Seven Hot Pepper Sauce. The other half of the farm is dedicated to chickens, geese, wild turkeys, ducks, rabbits. The urban farm is co-led by Noel Jones and Earl Antwine.
Project Scope: Vision, Aim, & Objectives
Why this project is being done:
Chicken and Goose Coops are really fun to build (and the client is really cool)
Who or what this project would impact:
It will help God's Vineyard get some traction Post-Katrina. Pre-Katrina many neighborhood children tended the little farm; only three children have returned, and unfortunately two of these have been murdered.
Project intends to address:
New Orleans neighborhoods need for convenient access to healthy and sustainable food products.
Included or excluded:
God's Vineyard is located behind Sixth Baptist Church (it is in the middle of the block not seen from street) at 918 Felicity St., between Laurel and Magazine Sts. Contact Noel Jones prior to visiting.
